Abstract

The demand for energy use has also increased due to reasons such as population growth, the diversity of service sectors, and the increase in industrialization. The desire of people to obtain their energy needs cheaply and continuously from their own resources has naturally emerged as a result of these developments. This increase has brought about the need for planning and production of energy in an environmentally friendly manner and its use. Most of the energy consumed in our country is met from thermal power plants. Fuels used in thermal power plants create various wastes according to their type, affect their environment and cause pollution. Coal has the largest share as the primary energy source in electricity production in Turkey. The intensive use of coal in energy production brings many environmental problems with it. Taking the necessary measures to prevent these environmental problems while the project is still in the planning stage is carried out with the "Environmental Impact Assessment" studies. For this reason, the content of the Environmental Impact Assessment reports prepared while the thermal power plants are in the planning stage is important in preventing future pollution of the projects or taking compensatory measures. In this context; specific to a selected thermal power plant EIA Report; The findings were discussed within the scope of the EIA Review-Evaluation Checklists.
